Next school year YOU will be given the chance to contribute to the new school dinner menu. We think this is really exciting but of course we need YOUR ideas. Please take a moment to think about what YOU want in next years school menu and then put it on the blog. We hope this has given you food 4 thought!!!

We thought about what school meals we would like next year that are healthy. Our ideas are …
Fruit salad
Seafood
Fish fingers
Salad
Fish – like salmon or tuna
Roast Chicken and vegetables
Milk shakes
Tomato ketchup
Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding
Burgers
Cheese Pizza
ice cream / lollies
Chicken nuggets and chips
Mashed potato and gravy
Rice pudding
Chinese stir fry
Banana
Turkey
We like the idea of being able to suggest our favourites and we tried to keep our ideas healthy. Perhaps if we do a tally of the most popular meals suggested it would give school dinner ladies an idea of what we will enjoy most.
Thank you school council
from Mrs Relph’s class

I think that the idea about homemade Burgers is not interesting. Although, the idea about homemade soup would be very nice if we could have chicken soup. or if we could have chicken and noodle soup. In Mrs Pritchards class we have already talked about it and are very pleased to see pip’s effort and we accept. we hope that more people will have more school dinners soon From Hayley.T

I think we should try some new foods that most people have not tried before, such as paella from Spain. Some new types of fish.

i dont have school dinners very often but i would like:
fish fingers,chicken nuggets,homemade burgers,tomato ketchup,milkshakes,apple and orange juice,vegtables,lots of fresh fruit,ice lollies/ice cream and chips , cherries and jelly.
I think we should all have metal knifes, forks and spoons because plastic ones are hard to eat with.

i think we should have food from different countries every week so people know what it tastes like.we could have carbonara from italy or tortilla from spain.i would be nice to try them out.i don’t have school dinners because i don’t know what the food tastes like.for people who don’t have school dinners i think we could try a little bit and if we like we could have school dinners

It would be nice if we had hot paninis with different fillings so people can have food hot and fresh from the oven. Also we could have homemade burgers with tomato relish for people who like it spicy and no tomato relish for people who dont like it spicy.

I think that the school should have a wider range of food instead of the
same old things every week e.g. fish, salad, meat, jelly

I have not had school dinners for a long time but had a very pleasant surprise last week when I tried the roast pork dinner. It was delish delosh! I especially liked the fact that the vegetables were cooked nicely and were not too soggy! The roast parsnips were lovely and I enjoyed the apples sauce with the pork as this is my favourite! I always used to eat more apple sauce than pork when I was a little girl and my mum used to tell me off! “No more apple sauce until you’ve eaten more pork and vegatables!!
So, I shall definitely be trying school dinners more often all look forward to all the ideas which Pip has for exciting new menus. Give her lots of ideas and get blogging!!!!!

I think that food 4 thought is a very good idia because children can choose what they want and hopefully the majority of us will be on scool dinners.
I think it wouldbe a good idia to have the following for our summer menu:
*Chiken and vegetable skewers
*Home-made vegtable burgers in a bap
And for afters:
*Summer fruit jelly
*Strawberries and dipping chocolate.

I tried some of Pip’s school dinners at the Summer Fayre on Friday. I think it was a really good idea to have dinners from next term’s menu for everybody to sample for FREE! Wow! I really enjoyed the pasta, pizza and lasagne (Italian food is my favourite), but apparently the Balti was really tasty too! I’m not surprised so many more children are choosing to have school dinners at Muxton now!

We thought that the idea of Pip setting up a stall during the summer fair was a great idea. The children from our class thought the food was wonderful. Amber said that all the dinner menu’s are getting better and better!

This was last year and i can remember the food that we had.
it late now but if we do it again then we could have like 3 or 4 diffrent types of drinks that we could choose from and you would only be allowed 2 glasses of whatever you had choosen or you could have one of each mabey.

I would pefer pure juce, not juce from concentrate.
(HERE ARE SOME EXPLANATIONS/DETAILS, SOME OF LARGE PARGRAPH IS UNECCIERY INFOMATION)
Fruit Juices and Fruit Nectars (England) Regulations 2003 Guidance Notes
Thursday 10 July 2003
The new legislation will replace the Fruit Juices and Fruit Nectars Regulations 1977 (as amended) which currently apply to the whole of Great Britain.
The legislation will assist consumers by requiring a clearer distinction between juice obtained directly from fruit and that obtained by the reconstitution of concentrated juice.
This will be achieved by the use of the product name ‘fruit juice’ for juice produced directly from fruit; and the use of the name ‘fruit juice from concentrate’ for that made by reconstituting fruit juice concentrate.
In future, the wording ‘from concentrate’ will be an integral part of the product name, thus drawing the attention of consumers more readily to the method of production. Juices made by mixing fruit juice and fruit juice from concentrate will be labelled as ‘fruit juice’ with the additional wording ‘partially made from concentrate’.
An explanation of these terms is given separately. These product names will be used in the labelling of juice and also to describe juice where it is included in the ingredients listing of other foods.
When so used in labelling, the name of the fruit from which the juice was extracted should replace the word ‘fruit’ in the product description, for example, if the juice was extracted from an orange, and was not concentrated, the product name would be ‘orange juice’.
The parts of the ‘fruit’ from which is permitted by the legislation to extract the juice are given in Schedules 1 and 2.
The legislation will also permit the addition of vitamins and minerals to fruit juice (with prescribed labelling), whilst maintaining existing rules on the addition of sugar, acidifying agents and ascorbic acid.
In addition, the new Regulations will bring methods permitted for the production of concentrated citrus juices (e.g. orange, grapefruit) more in line with those allowed in some major producing countries, such as the USA, where water-extracted juice can be incorporated in juice pressed from the fruit.
